Ventspils University College was founded in 1997. It is a self-governing state university college and scientific institution and its basic activity is to carry out scientific research and to implement academic and professional study programmes. Ventspils University College offers to achieve knowledge in 3 faculties and 10 study programmes in the following specialties: business management, translation/interpreting and linguistics, computer science and engineering. Primary aim of VUC is to develop and maintain qualitative and modern higher education and scientific research, and provide good functional interaction of them in its academic fields of action – management, applied linguistics, computer science, information technology, engineering and radio astronomy. The future vision of VUC is to become internationally recognized higher education institution and active participant in the united European higher education and scientific research environment. To become a higher education institution that uses modern technologies, which promote competitiveness of VUC and its personnel, in all its fields of operation and to be an active participant of creation of new similar technologies.
