Founded in 1924, the University of Trieste is a medium-sized university with a student population of approximately 20,000. It offers a wide range of degree programmes at bachelor, master and doctoral level as well as short vocational masters, advanced masters and specialisation programmes, most of which are in the medical area, degree programmes are also taught in English. The University is among the best universities in Italy for quality of teaching and excellence of research. It was ranked second among the top medium-sized universities in Italy by the 2013 university ranking published independently by Censis and the daily La Repubblica, which takes into account services, scholarships and benefits, infrastructure, web communication, and internationalisation. According to the Times Higher Education 2013, the University of Trieste is among the top 400 universities in the world and was ranked second in Italy on an overall score for teaching, international outlook, research, and industry income. It is also among the top 300 universities in the world in the Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities 2013 published by the National Taiwan University Ranking. The university is also part of a lively international research environment providing access to state-of- the-art equipment and facilities and the possibility to interact with leading researchers in many fields. Part-time work: If you are enrolled at UniTS and want to support your studies, you can apply for part-time work within the University at a rate of 8.50 euro per hour and for a maximum of 175 working hours per academic year. Part-time work placements are normally referred to as ‘collaborazioni studenti’. Applications for part-time work can be submitted once every year (normally during the summer).
Please note that in order to apply you need to have an ISEE (‘Equivalent Economic Indicator’) statement, which can be obtained from a CAF, an Authorised Tax Assistance Office.
