Satakunta University of Applied Sciences – SAMK

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is a limited liability company, which is owned by the municipalities and local business organizations. SAMK’s operations is managed by the President–Managing Director and two Vice Presidents, one of whom is in charge of education and the other in charge of research, development and innovation activities and business services. Each faculty has a Dean in charge of its operations. In addition, SAMK’s management comprise the Director of Higher Education Services in charge of the internal services and the Director of Finance and Administration. We have six faculties: Welfare, Health, Service Business, Logistics and Maritime Technology, Energy and Construction, Information Technology. We are operating on the west coast of Finland. The region is called Satakunta, and our biggest city is Pori. Distance from Helsinki 240 km (by car about 3 hours). SAMK is the leading institution of higher education in the region. Our international strategy is to find key partners who are interested in long-term partnerships in the fields of expertise that both partners are specialised in. We currently have almost 140 cooperation agreements with partner universities in Europe, Russia, Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Thailand), United States and Mexico. (Source: the university’s website)

Please Note. To obtain the residence permit, foreign students have to make a bank deposit of at least €6,000 for each year of studying to cover living costs in Finland. ۬Obtaining a part-time job without Finnish language knowledge is difficult.
