Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) has been a pioneering scientific university, bringing together the fields of science and business since 1969. Our international community is comprised of approximately 6,500 students and experts engaged in scientific research and academic education. Our strength lies in our way of working together across scientific and departmental boundaries. We constantly establish networks in both the business and the academic community. We produce problem solvers, and we provide solutions to global environmental and economic challenges. We focus on demanding topical issues, such as the mitigation of climate change and the continuous availability of clean water and energy. LUT is the most important university player in the energy sector, with 40 per cent of the market share. The expertise we have built in energy is reflected in the Green Campus, a unique research and study environment. We aim to be a forerunner in our education programmes with international accreditation, as a sign of excellence in the teaching. Starting in the autumn of 2012, almost 33 per cent of our new students are from foreign countries. (Source: the university website)
