Jagiellonian University in Krakow

The Jagiellonian University – Alma Mater Jagellonica – was established by King Kazimierz the Great, renovated by King Wâadysâaw Jagieââo. The University upholds its ancient heritage by continuing to serve science and education through carrying out scientific research, pursuing the truth and promoting its findings with a sense of moral responsibility for the Nation and the Republic of Poland. In all endeavours, the University abides by the words of its motto: PLUS RATIO QUAM VIS. The structure of the Jagiellonian University is unique in Poland. Among the 15 faculties, there are three which comprise the Collegium Medicum: The Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Health Protection. These three were separated from the University in 1950, following the Soviet model, and reincorporated in the Alma Mater in1993. Until recently, the Jagiellonian was the only Polish university with medical faculties, although currently the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruã also has them. (Source: the university’s website)
