The name ‘Fontys’ was derived from the Latin word, ‘Fons’, which means ‘source’. Fontys aspires to be a dynamic source of knowledge, development, innovation and inspiration. The Fontys University of Applied Sciences is a well-known name in education, not only in Holland, but also in many other parts of the world and Fontys is the second largest institute of higher education in Holland. Fontys course programmes are offered at 22 locations within Holland, with a high concentration of institutes in the southern part of the country. Major campuses are located in Eindhoven, Tilburg and Venlo and smaller institutes are located in Sittard, Rotterdam, Veghel and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Almost all higher professional education programmes at Bachelor’s level that are available in Holland can be followed at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences. Classes are held in the informal, small-scale environments of the various Fontys institutes. As a result, a great deal of attention is given to personal development. At the same time, students can profit from the huge diversity offered by the Fontys University of Applied Sciences as a whole.
