Østfold University College is located in the southeast part of Norway, between the capital city, Oslo and the Swedish border. Østfold also offers 60 subjects of study in two regional cities – Halden and Fredrikstad. Østfold University College has approximately 7,000 students and 550 staff members. We offer a range of bachelor’s degree programmes and a few master’s degree programmes. Østfold University College offers a steadily growing number of courses that can be studied as part of your home university degree. These courses are taught in English (alternatively in German, French or Spanish). For all English taught courses or programmes, good skills in English (intermediate level) are required. Besides a variety of organizations and societies for students, HiØ will help you feel welcome and able to participate in the local community in both Halden and Fredrikstad. There are a number of activities on campus to enhance the overall learning experience, including concerts, lectures, exhibitions and visits from writers. Full time students don’t usually take on work whilst studying in Norway. The Norwegian Government requires foreign students to arrive in the country with enough funds to be able to support themselves throughout the full study period. Proof of NOK 92,500 (data from the academic year 2013) is required per year per student, this equates to approx £11340 (rates change daily so please check). Please check the University website for more detailed information. Please note all costings are in Norwegian krone and have been converted into euros, so please check the exchange rates.
